This page explains the cookies and similar tools used on the Girder website, what each one is for and how to switch them off. We keep the list short.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a website saves in your browser. It lets the site remember something between pages or visits, such as a choice you made or the fact that you have been here before. Cookies cannot read other files on your device.

Cookies we use

• Essential: these keep the site working. They remember your cookie choice and protect the bid, contact and careers forms from spam. They hold no personal profile and cannot be switched off here.
• Preferences: these remember small choices, such as the job type and size you last entered in the budget calculator, so you do not have to type them again.
• Analytics: these count visits and show us which pages people read, which projects they open and where a form is abandoned. The numbers are grouped. We do not use them to identify you.

We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share cookie data with ad networks.

What we measure

Analytics tells us things like how many people opened the projects page this month, how many started a bid request and how many finished it, and whether the site is slow on phones. We use it to fix pages that confuse people. Analytics data is kept for fourteen months and then deleted.

Other tools on the page

Fonts and images are loaded from our hosting provider's servers. A map or a video, when a page has one, is loaded from the company that provides it, and that company may set its own cookies once you press play or move the map. Their own policies apply to those cookies.

How to turn cookies off

• On this site: use the cookie banner to accept or refuse analytics and preference cookies. You can change your mind at any time by clearing the site's cookies, which brings the banner back.
• In your browser: every browser lets you block or delete cookies in its privacy settings. You can block them for all sites or only for this one.
• On your phone: the same settings are in the browser's menu under privacy or site settings.

If you block every cookie the site still works. The forms still send and the pages still load. Only small conveniences are lost, such as the calculator remembering your last numbers.

Do Not Track and privacy signals

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal of analytics and preference cookies. No banner click is needed.

How long cookies last

Essential cookies last for your visit or up to twelve months for your cookie choice. Preference cookies last six months. Analytics cookies last up to fourteen months. After that they delete themselves.
